Aims & Activities

Because Behçet’s is a rare disorder, we are a small support group. We have three volunteers based in Napier, Auckland and Bay of Islands who provide support to members through regular Newsletters and general information.

We offer our time and understanding for those who need us, especially in bad times, and assist newly diagnosed patients with advice and information.

Our Support Group has held one get together in Napier several years ago. It is our intention to hold another one in the near future in Auckland but we need to find a specialist who would be willing to speak to us and we need to find free suitable rooms to use due to lack of funding.

There was a rheumatologist/immunologist in Auckland who treated several of us and who attended our get together in Napier. He was able to answer many questions, but has since moved overseas for research. We are keen to find another specialist to act as advisor to our group.
